The LGPD – Law No. 13.709, as of August 14th, 2018, is a legislative proposal from 2012, which aimed at establishing guidelines for the processing of personal data, as well as protecting individual rights of citizens in accordance with the Brazilian Constitution.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LGPD?
The LGPD regulates the processing of personal data of individuals with the aim of protecting their basic rights of individuality and liberty. The law applies to any legal entity or individuals who might have their personal data processed including the Federal Government, States and Municipalities.
